The shooting was done in five citys in Germany
Berlin - Cologne - Munich - Fribourg
Berlin:
We have been shooting four days and four nights non-stop!
Deliah, with her schoolmates at the Jewish High School, were very convincing. Some "normal" schools could learn alesson or two from the Jewish High School. By the way, kosher lunch at the Jewish High School is not just clean but also
very delicious! By day Judaism at its best: Louder Foundation and Abraham Geiger Kolleg, and of course at night:
Berlin nightlife!
The youths of Berlin: Deliah, Daniel, Moishe, Alina, Konstantin, Super Ruben and his friends, above all Dr. Anne Brenker
of the Abraham Geiger Kolleg and Rabbi Spinner of the Louder Foundation have supported us amazingly. Thanks a lot!
Hauke Cornelius of the Jewish High School is a real darling!
Thanks to Gernot Erler too for beeing allowed to sleep in his residence - it saved us a lot of money for the hotel!!!
Cologne:
Mike, young, dynamic, cosmopolitan, computer scientist, basketball player: we accompanied him for two days and nights.
The work at the BJJSK, man only thing with his Muslim friends - what man do when they are among themselfes: smoking Shisha, of course, having hard cocktails and Hip-Hop Videoclips. It´s a pity that we had to work, but the shaked Mai Tai of Mike was really worth it!
The boys and girls love to listen and to dance to Salsa, thats why another name of the BJJSK is "bis jeder Jude Salsa
kann" - ("until each Jew can dance Salsa") - only this way were able to remember the name of the organization... The shootings in the russian Salsaclub were exciting and exhausting... The Russian Club Owner joined in immediately (very spontaneous of his part), and the whole crew of Mike, too. Even though Mike lost his party humour in the russian club at
the end - who would expect that. Dima and Daniel, the rappers, who contributed an important part to the Soundtrack with "Going to the synagoge" kept spinning Hip-Hop-Records - and "the ladies go wild"...
The basketball training with Mike at Makabi Germany was tough for him - there´s good reason it´s the best Jewish German national team. There will also be many pictures and interviews with Mike, BJJSK, Mikes friends, Rap-shootings with
Dim-One and Daniel... We won´t say anything more - whatch the movie!
Munich:
Lea - 23 years old and already Chemist at the research laboratory of the University Munich and additionally dedicated with "jung und jüdisch" Munich, but claims to be not stressed at all!
The schootings in Munich were ingenious! Good weather -
beer garden philosophy - good humoured liberal Jewish community... Many thanks that we were allowed to shoot Lea's
church service at Shabbat - and to be able to enjoy once again kosher appetizers!
Margarethe surprisingly started speaking Bavarian during the shooting (it´s her home). Steph was very suprised that the
beer jugs in the "Hirschgarten" were whashed with toilet brushes, which is because of the size of the jugs! Lea, Lena,
Adrian, the Jewish community, all have welcomed us with opend arms despite of constant pursuit with the camera, all
were in a good mood!!
Thanks!
Fribourg:
Dimitry - Dima 1 - Rebell Rapper - well-educated, yet very critical, majoring in Asian Arts - many friends of different cultures and countries of origin. At the Youth Center we were welcomed by dancing kids and cool boys with sun glasses. In the
shack questions were asked - is Shabbes really that cool? Will the grim rapper soon become strict religous? This
questions will be left opened, but we had interesting disputations and shot wild pictures and Music- and Videoclip shots -
we won´t tell anything more - whatch the movie!!!
Thanks to Dimitry, and as well to Liza, Bess, David and the Jewish community in Fribourg. The cheesecake at Shawout
was delicious!!!!
Frankfurt:
The 24 aged writer Lena received us with opened arms and even more opened words. Her commentary got the statement of the documentary exactly to the point. The fingers flew over the keyboard, the men and the cars simply rushed by her, but much
more faster rushed her thoughts, which helped us (and hopefully you too soon), to get to know and to understand young Jews in Germany.
